New cut scores set for history tests in grades 3, 4, 5,
6, 7, and 8
The Board also set cut scores for the new 3rd,
4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade history tests. These scores are
3rd grade: profic. 27, advanced 35 out of 40
items
VA Studies (4th gr): profic. 25, advanced 35 out of 40
items
US Hist. to 1877 (5th grade): profic. 25, advanced 36 out of
40 items
US Hist. 1877 (6th grade)-Present: profic. 23, advanced 34
out of 40 items
Civics & Econ. (7th grade): profic. 21, advanced 34 out of
40 items
8th grade: proficient 26, advanced 43 out of 60 items
Because these are new tests, there can't be a
comparison with cut scores over time. As a reminder, though, the history cut
scores were lowered in 2001 (though not applied retroactively), thus
increasing the pass rate. To read more about that change and how it affected
the pass rates, click here. (http://www.solreform.com/historyscores.htm)
